Parks & Recreation Customer Service staff are the primary point of contact for customers who visit the
Lenexa Community Center,
Lenexa Rec Center,
Thompson Barn and
Legler Barn. In this role, they:
- Inform patrons of rules and policies.
- Process activity registrations and indoor/outdoor facility rental agreements.
- Enter information in registration/reservation database.
- Process permits and payments.
- Resolve customer concerns.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Customer Service Representative
Help citizens and guests find the best opportunity to stay healthy and connected in the community while working with experienced and welcoming team members. Assist customers in registering for activities, camps, classes and drop-in programs. Become familiar with the Lenexa Rec Center, Community Center, Senior Center, Thompson Barn, City Hall and outdoor park shelters, fields, courts and their many amenities. Inform renters of the best location to host their special occasion and assist with processing their reservation.
Representatives maintain front desk operations at the Lenexa Rec Center and Lenexa Community Center and assist at entry gates and the information booth at festivals and events.
Must be able to work Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. with occasional weekend support during festivals.
Individuals with a high school diploma or GED and two years customer service experience are eligible for the customer service position.
Event Concierge
Do you have a knack for providing exceptional hospitality and accommodating those preparing for their big day or an important meeting? Our event concierges get to assist clients with room setup, technology and amenity needs, tours of the facility, and general facility cleaning and supervision. They have thorough knowledge of the facility and problem-solving skills that help them work independently to make events run smoothly.
Individuals age 21+ with a high school diploma or GED are eligible for the Event Concierge position.
Legler Barn Museum Concierge
This position is ideal for an individual who has a passion for history and education and the ability to customize guided tours to all ages and group sizes. The barn is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. However, on occasion large group tours are scheduled outside of those days. The concierge informs guests of local and regional history and follows the educational guidelines set by the Lenexa Historical Society.
Individuals with a high school diploma or GED are eligible for the Legler Barn Concierge position.
