Lenexa Commons and outdoor stage

Need to rent a room or venue for your next meeting or special event? Lenexa City Hall in the Lenexa City Center neighborhood has spaces that accommodate small or large groups. Choose from well-equipped conference rooms, a bright and airy lobby (with rotating art gallery), an auditorium with great acoustics, or an outdoor commons area and stage for gatherings or performances.

To rent a space in Lenexa City Hall, you must do so in person at: 

  • Lenexa Rec Center, 17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Reservations can be made up to six months in advance and require at least a two-week notice.

Rental hours

Daily: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (in general)

Prairie Star Room, Santa Fe Room and Lenexa Commons are available to rent daily by the hour from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Rental time must include any prep and clean-up time. Rentals after 5 p.m. weekdays and anytime on weekends must be a minimum of two hours.

The Community Forum is not available on:

  • Tuesdays
  • Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. from late April to late October (Lenexa Farmers Market operation).

Rental spaces and rates

Rental fee includes setup of tables and chairs (indoors), technology, amenities and on-site concierge. Additional fees may apply for alcohol consumption and damage deposit.

We offer discounted rates to Lenexa residents and businesses. Separate nonprofit rates are not available.

Prairie Star Room setup examples

Community Forum / Lobby

The Community Forum/Lobby spaces are ideal for meetings and training seminars.

Available for two rentals per group per six-month period.

Capacity: Community Forum (250 seats) | Lobby (100 with tables and chairs). See pictures above.

Amenities: chairs with tablet arms (Community Forum), chairs, tables, projector, screen, HDMI hookup, microphones, guest Wi-Fi.

Cost:

  • Lenexa resident hourly rate: $175
  • Regular hourly rate: $265

Prairie Star Room

The Prairie Star Room is a conference room for business meetings and training seminars. It's also a great option for small graduation, bridal, birthday, anniversary and holiday parties and celebrations of life.

Available to be rented by the same group for a combined maximum of 24 rentals per calendar year.

Capacity: 32 people with tables and chairs / 22 people classroom style / 50 people with chairs only and bench seating. See setup examples.

Cost:

  • Lenexa resident hourly rate: $40
  • Regular hourly rate: $60

Santa Fe Room

The Santa Fe Star Room is a glass-encased conference room that overlooks the City Hall lobby. Ideal for business meetings and training seminars.

Available to be rented by the same group for a combined maximum of 24 rentals per calendar year.

Capacity: 10 people

Amenities: Tables, chairs, projector, screen, HDMI hookup, whiteboard, guest Wi-Fi

Cost:

  • Lenexa resident hourly rate: $40
  • Regular hourly rate: $60

Lenexa Commons / Outdoor Stage

The Lenexa Commons in the outdoor gathering place at the center of Lenexa's civic campus. It features large open spaces for play and festivals, with built-in perimeter seating. The Outdoor Stage is ideal for hosting concerts and other live performances.

Available for two rentals per group per six-month period.

Capacity: 300 people

Alcohol and security policy

  • If you are having alcohol at your event, there is an additional $100 fee.

  • You must also fill out a Facility Alcohol Permit Form.

  • If you are serving alcohol, you must hire an off-duty Lenexa police officer. You must contact us and turn in your Facility Alcohol Permit Form at least 60 days before your event to book the officer(s). The fee is $50 per officer per hour, paid in cash directly to the officer(s) at the beginning of your rental. Officers must arrive 30 minutes before your event and remain onsite until 30 minutes after your last call or the event is over.

Decorating/vendor setup or warmup must be included in rental time. City Hall closes at 10 p.m. Sunday–Saturday. Takedown/cleanup must be completed and everyone must exit the building by rental end time.
