Lenexa City Center
Lenexa City Center is Lenexa’s new downtown, a direct result of the Vision 2020 community-driven planning process. It's situated near the geographic center of town at 87th Street Parkway and Renner Boulevard.
This exciting and walkable neighborhood combines shopping, restaurants, entertainment venues, offices, living options and hotels.
The 200-acre City Center district is conveniently located along Interstate 435 and sits within a few miles of where I-35, I-435, U.S. 69, K-10 and K-7 meet. City Center is a true live-work environment with higher levels of urban density, design and architectural quality.
Public institutions are an important part of Lenexa City Center and create gathering spaces for the community. In 2017, the City opened a 200,000-square-foot campus. It included a new City Hall, Park University satellite campus, Lenexa Public Market indoor food hall and Lenexa Rec Center. A seasonal outdoor Lenexa Farmers Market was added in 2018. The Shawnee Mission School District opened a 1,200-seat competitive aquatics facility in 2019. The same year, Johnson County Library opened the Lenexa City Center Library branch.
The City of Lenexa hosts popular events in Lenexa City Center throughout the year including the Lenexa Art Fair, Food Truck Frenzy, and City Center Live.
Lenexa City Center was awarded the inaugural “Great Places in Kansas” award from the Kansas Chapter of the American Planning Association in 2021.
