Many Parks & Recreation drop-in activities and programs take place at the Lenexa Old Town Lenexa Activity Center (formerly the Lenexa Community Center and Lenexa Senior Center). In the future, this facility will also offer event rental spaces. 

This facility is open but under construction. Learn more about the improvements taking place and what you can expect in 2025.

Drop-in activities

Our drop-in recreation activities take place in various rooms. Please call 913.477.7100 or check Statusfy to confirm the day’s schedule.

To participate in any activity, you must have a signed waiver and release form on file. Children age 17 and younger must have their waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Activity details and fees

Early childhood

Gym for Me

Kids age 5 and younger can run, ride and play. Toys and inflatables provided. Adult supervision required. Available September through May. Cost is $2 per child.


School-age youth

Youth open gym

Eighth grade and younger is on Tuesday afternoons. Ninth grade and older is on Thursday afternoons. Available during the school year. Free admission.


Adults

Adult open gym

Reserved for adults age 18 and older. Balls provided. Cost is $1 for residents / $2 for nonresidents.

Pickleball

Cost is $2 per person.


50 Plus

Beginner Line Dance

Enjoy a light cardiovascular workout while dancing to a variety of music. No partner needed. Step sheets available. All levels welcome. Cost is $5 per class or $40 for 10-class punch card.

Chair Yoga

Reserved for adults age 18 and older. This class is experienced seated on a chair and using the chair for support while standing. All fitness levels welcome. Cost is $5 per class or $40 for 10-class punch card.

Senior men's basketball

Reserved for adults age 55 and older. Cost is $1 per person.

Senior Pep Fitness

Reserved for adults age 50 and over. Get energized and gain cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and strength. All fitness levels welcome. Cost is $4 per class or $35 for 10-class punch card. 

Gym rules

  1. We reserve the right to limit the number of participants. The normal capacity of the gym is 75 people, and we will give Lenexa residents priority if the gym reaches capacity.

  2. Coaching is not allowed during open gym.

  3. You assume all risks associated with using our facility. Use may result in injury.

  4. Open gym may not be appropriate for all children. Our staff do not provide supervision during open gym. Adult supervision is required for children 10 and younger and recommended for older children.

  5. You must wear proper attire at all times. This includes shirts and athletic shoes. No undergarments may be showing. Black-soled shoes are prohibited, except for nonmarking soles.

  6. If an accident or injury occurs, please notify a staff member immediately. Please report all unsafe conditions immediately.

  7. Protect your personal belongings. We are not responsible for lost or stolen property.

  8. No running or bouncing balls in the hallway, and no kicking volleyballs or basketballs in the gym or hallway.

  9. Please return all balls to their proper place — or the office — when you are done using them.

  10. You are expected to be on your best behavior. We do not tolerate profanity, fighting, spitting, gambling, horseplay or destruction of property, and any instances may result in discipline. This can include, but is not limited to, requesting you to leave, contacting the police, suspending your open gym privileges or informing minors’ parents or guardians. Please report any instances to a staff member.

  11. We do not allow food or drink in the gym. Water fountains are available in the hallway.

  12. We reserve the right to close open gym because of other programs or events.

  13. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave.

  14. Residents are allowed to bring one nonresident per visit, and you will be asked to show proof of residency.
