Keep pets comfortable in the cold

Don’t neglect the comfort and safety of your furry loved ones during extreme conditions. Lenexa City Code requires that pets left outside have access to a sound, weatherproof enclosure such as a doghouse. They must also have access to clean, unfrozen, drinkable water.

For extra warmth, doghouses can be lined with straw, hay or blankets. If possible, try to position the doghouse away from prevailing winds, ideally next to a larger structure like your home.

Also, consider investing in a heated water bowl. This will keep your pet’s water from freezing over in the cold.
