All City of Lenexa buildings — with the exception of public safety facilities — will be closed on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, due to the ongoing winter storm and hazardous road conditions. Nonessential employees who can work remotely have been directed to do so.

Facility closures include Lenexa City Hall, Municipal Court, Rec Center, Old Town Activity Center and the Public Market. Lenexa parks and trails will also be closed on Monday.

The Lenexa Justice Center and Lenexa’s six fire stations remain open and public safety personnel will continue to respond to emergencies.

The Lenexa Planning Commission meeting planned for Jan. 6 is canceled. Items for that meeting will be heard at the Feb. 3 meeting.

Lenexa snowplow crews continue to work 12-hour shifts and clear streets based on this priority:

  1. Arterial and collector roads: First, we treat and plow major streets with high traffic volumes, such as 87th Street Parkway, Pflumm Road, Prairie Star Parkway and Renner Boulevard. This helps enable safe access for emergency services and benefits the largest number of drivers possible.
  2. Residential streets: Neighborhood streets are given second priority in plowing due to the smaller number of vehicles traveling on them. Lenexa crews focus on residential streets after the main roadways are clear.

We urge residents to avoid driving during the storm. Clearing the roadways will take time, and reduced traffic helps Municipal Services work more efficiently, ensuring everyone's safety.
