GI Bill Benefits
Veterans
The City of Lenexa values the skills and unique perspectives military veterans bring to the workforce. We are proud to support our armed forces and veteran personnel.
Military leadership means producing exceptional results often under demanding conditions. Such skills translate well into a career with the City of Lenexa.
On-the-Job Training Benefits
One way Lenexa supports military veterans is the on-the-job training benefits through the Post-9/11 GI Bill program. Your GI education benefits can pay a monthly stipend while you’re working through the police on-the-job training program.
What is the GI Bill Program?
The Post-9/11 GI Bill offers a monthly housing allowance in addition to your wage. GI Bill payments are issued each month after we report your hours to the State.
If you are within your first 18 months of service with the City of Lenexa, you might qualify for MHA payments using your GI Bill Education Benefits.
Training Rates
- First six months of training: 100% of your applicable monthly housing allowance
- Second six months of training: 80% of your applicable monthly housing allowance
- Third six months of training: 60% of your applicable monthly housing allowance
- Fourth six months of training: 40% of your applicable monthly housing allowance
Note: If you completed at least 90 days, but less than 3 years, of active-duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, your applicable MHA benefit will be lower than the full amount shown in the rate tables.
