Celebrate Kansas’ birthday with fellow residents. Stop by Lenexa City Hall and explore all things Kansas. From the values our state was built on and the movie that shaped perceptions to the history that informs our future. Browse a variety of educational booths and enjoy free activities.

Roots + Resilience: Sunflower Painting Class

6:30–8:30 p.m.

Kansas embraced this iconic bloom as a symbol of beauty, strength, resilience and warmth. Join art teacher Kristina Crawford in painting your own sunflower to take home.

Fees apply and vary based on number of participants.

Movie: "The Wizard of Oz"

4:30 p.m. (Run time: 1 hr. 42 min.) 

There is no place like home! Enjoy a showing of "The Wizard of Oz" in the Community Forum. Dress up in a Kansas-inspired costume for a chance to win a prize. Free.


Sunflower Collection Talk

Two sessions: 5:30–6 p.m. & 6:30–7 p.m.

Hear Bill Nicks’ inspiration behind his 2,000-piece sunflower collection. A sampling of his collection will be on display while a large portion will be showcased at Legler Barn Museum & Depot until this summer. Free
