Fishing and Boating

Locations
  • Lake Lenexa at Black Hoof Park (9053 Monticello Road). Fishing and non-gas powered boating allowed. Stocked fish includes Channel Catfish, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Sunfish and Largemouth Bass. See Lake Lenexa Boating and Fishing Rules and Regulations.
  • Hidden Woods Park (83rd and Quivira). Fishing only. Stocked fish includes Channel Catfish, Bluegill and Sunfish.
  • Rose’s Pond at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park (87th and Lackman). Fishing only. Stocked fish includes Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill and Sunfish.
  • Mize Lake at Cedar Station Park (100th and Mize). Fishing only. Stocked fish includes Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill and Sunfish.

License required
A state fishing license is required for all fishing activities for persons ages 16 to 74 years old. State creel limits are enforced. Ice fishing is not allowed.

Hours

Fishing is open only during posted park hours.

Acceptable boats

Boats that are class 1 (26 feet in length) or smaller are allowed. Gas-powered motors are prohibited.

Community Fisheries Assistance Program

The City of Lenexa has partnered with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) to provide fishing opportunities through the Community Fisheries Assistance Program. The program provides family-friendly fishing areas close to where people live. KDWPT stocks the fish and provides management practices at city provided facilities.
