Sports Fields

The following fields may be rented on a first come, first served basis:

Baseball or softball

Freedom Fields (83rd & Monticello Road) has four fields with complete backstops

Multi-use (soccer / flag football / lacrosse)

Freedom Fields (83rd & Monticello Road) has seven fields.

Little Mill Creek North (79th Street and Cottonwood) has twelve fields.

Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park (87th Street and Lackman) has two fields.

The following open spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis for practices only:

Multi-use (soccer / flag football / lacrosse)

Electric Park (93rd and Loiret Blvd.)

Buffalo Meadows Park (Prairie Star Parkway and Lone Elm Road)

Field reservation details:

Field reservations must be done in person at the Lenexa Community Center, 13420 Oak Street, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday - Friday. No reservations will be taken over the phone. If a field has not been reserved, it is available on a first come, first served basis. See below with regard to when reservations open up to the general public.

Field reservation times are between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.

Weekday evening reservation time frames are:

                5 p.m.-6 p.m. | 6 p.m.-7 p.m. | 7 p.m.-8 p.m. | 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. | 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.

Field reservation fees are $5 per hour for Lenexa residents and $10 per hour for nonresidents.

Full payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellation of any field reservation must be made in writing at least 14 days prior to the function, or the fee for the date(s) cancelled will be forfeited. Refunds will not be given due to inclement weather; however, reservation dates or times may be moved if available.

** Fields are not available for use from November 1 through February 29. Fields will be treated during this time, and restrooms will be closed. **

Spring/Summer Season Reservations (March 1 – July30) | Fall Season Reservations (August 1 – October 31)

Spring/summer reservations begin on the first city business day of January and fall reservations begin on the first city business day of June for teams with a roster of at least 60 percent Lenexa residents and who are not affiliated with a league organization. The person signing the contract must show proof of residency and provide a copy of their roster including addresses for players. Teams are limited to one reservation time frame per week day and one reservation on the weekend.

For non-resident teams, spring/summer reservations begin January 11th or the next city business day and fall reservations begin June 11th or the next city business day. Teams are limited to one reservation time frame per week day and one reservation on the weekend.

For spring/summer reservations, beginning January 18 or the next city business day and for fall reservations, beginning June 18th or the next city business day, any team, including those with an affiliated league organization, can reserve additional available time frames.

PLEASE NOTE: Lenexa Parks & Recreation does not provide goals. Only portable goals may be brought in and must be removed after each practice or game. No anchored goals are allowed. Please read our Safe Soccer Goal Usage and Storage Policy. Fields are not marked. Please use cones or bases for practices. If lines must be drawn for games, please use chalk. Currently there are no fields with complex lighting, and alcohol is not permitted at any field complex.

Field Use Policy:

The person reserving the field assumes responsibility for any damage to the fields during their usage and shall use his/her best judgment when determining the playability of an athletic field to ensure the continued health of the turf, sustainability of the field throughout the season and user safety. An athletic field should be considered closed for play if any part of the field becomes unsafe for field users, or if conditions exist where use will cause damage to the field, such as:

  • standing water present on any part of the field that cannot be removed without causing damage to the field
  • muddy conditions that will not dry by the start of the game
  • when water can be seen or heard with a footstep while walking on the field
  • when any impression of a footprint is left in the surface while walking on the field of play
  • if water gathers around the sole of a shoe or boot on any portion of the field
