Enjoy visual arts, theater or cinema? A trio of new events hosted by the Lenexa Arts Council offer fresh new ways to explore the arts in Lenexa.

City Center Art Walk
Sept. 12, 6-9 p.m., starts at Lenexa City Hall
Lenexa City Center is home to many stunning permanent and rotating works of art. You'll enjoy art at Lenexa City Hall, Lenexa City Center Library, Revocup and Gomer's, plus receptions and a wine tasting. Must be age 21 or older to participate in the tasting and able to walk about one-half mile at a leisurely pace. Tickets are $10/person.

MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival
Oct. 3, 6:30-9 p.m., Lenexa Community Forum
The Lenexa Arts Council and Johnson County Library are partnering to participate in this exciting worldwide celebration of short films. This annual film festival brings communities together across the globe to enjoy a handpicked selection of the world's best short films. Screenings will take place at 300 venues across six continents Sept. 26 through Oct. 6. Film lovers will get to watch the top 10 short films chosen as finalists, then vote on their favorite film and actor. Some of the past finalists have gone on to be nominated for Academy Awards.

Theater on the Trail
Oct. 6, 2 p.m., Black Hoof Park
A free, hilarious performance combined with a leisurely hike through one of Lenexa's loveliest parks sounds like a perfect afternoon! Shawnee Mission Northwest High School theater students under the direction of Jason Coats will perform "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged, Revised." Wear comfy shoes and bring a lawn chair or blanket, and be prepared to walk about 2 miles.
