Frequently asked questions

Can I reserve a time in Kid Zone?

No. The Kid Zone is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If the Kid Zone is full and your child is included on your Lenexa Rec Center membership, they can access any facility area with you (if age requirements are met). If your child is not included on your membership and is 3 or older, you will need to purchase a day pass.

What is the minimum and maximum time a child can be in Kid Zone?

We do not have a minimum amount of time your child can be in the Kid Zone. However, the fee will not be discounted based on the time your child is in our care. The maximum amount of time a child can be under our care at one time is two hours.

Can I leave the building when my child is in Kid Zone?

No, under state regulations we are not a classified daycare. Therefore, you will need to remain inside the Lenexa Rec Center while your child is in the Kid Zone.

How will you communicate with parents?

When you check your child in to the Kid Zone we will ask you a series of questions, including what phone number we can reach you at that day. Should we need you, we will call the phone number you provide.

Do you change diapers?

Due to state regulations, we cannot change diapers. If a child needs their diaper changed, we will contact you to assist with the situation.

How is security handled?

We will have a check-in and check-out process in which we will collect information on how to contact you and who is authorized to pick up your child. Individuals not listed on your household will need to provide photo identification to verify identity.

Sick kid policy

Children are expected to come to Kid Zone healthy. They will not be permitted in the child care room with a fever or if they have had a fever within the last 24 hours.

Parents will be contacted and asked to pick up their child if:

  • Child has 99 degree temperature or higher
  • Child vomits
  • Child exhibits any unusual rash or skin condition

If a child behaves unusually, appears to be uncomfortable, or is inconsolable for an extended period of time, parents may be requested to retrieve their child.
