Our department is dedicated to the preservation of life and property in our community. We are constantly striving to improve our programs to enhance the quality of life in our community. We provide immediate safety, security and quality compassionate service to the citizens, businesses and patrons of Lenexa. These services include fire and injury prevention, community support activities and emergency operations.
Emergency responses include all incidents requiring pre-hospital emergency medical care and transport to hospitals, all fire suppression activity, all hazardous materials emergencies and all specialized rescue dilemmas, including high-angle victim rescue, crashed vehicle victim extrication, confined space rescue, trench, water and ice rescue. We are prepared for any natural or man-made disaster that has the potential to threaten the community’s quality of life.
With an authorized staff of 88 employees working out of five fire stations, each year we respond to over 5,500 emergency calls, treat and/or transport over 3,500 patients, and provide fire and first aid safety education to over 10,000 people (equivalent to approximately one out of four Lenexa residents).
